Commissioned by Andrés Cárdenes for the Pittsburgh Symphony Chamber Orchestra. Premiered at the Nuance series, Pittsburgh, on November 11, 2003.

2002 Fantasía (del Equivocado Fritz), for piano and chamber orchestra

Commissioned by Camerata Criolla for pianist Gabriela Montero, 1995 Chopin Competition bronze medallist. Premiered on June 15, 2002, Teatro Teresa Carreño, Venezuela, under the baton of Manuel Hernández-Silva.

2000 Puente Trans-Arábico, for Middle Eastern percussion and String Quartet

Commissioned by Music in the Loft with a generous donation from Ms. Ruth Horwich. Especially composed for percussionist Yousif Sheronick and the Pacifica String Quartet and premiered at the “Second Kleiner Concert: Journey on the Wings of Song,” December 2, 2000.

2000 Konex-Konex, for folk ensemble and orchestra

Orchestral variations on a Mayan tune. Commissioned by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and premiered jointly with Los Folkloristas on April 7-8, 2000 under the baton of William Eddins. Subsequently performed by the Orquesta Filarmónica de la Ciudad de México on September 16-17, 2000, Carlos Miguel Prieto, conductor.

1999 Pataruco: Concerto for Venezuelan Maracas and Orchestra

1998 Cecilia en Azul y Verde, for cello and piano

Commissioned by Mexican cellist Carlos Prieto. Premiered in Caracas on May 10th, 1998. Subsequently recorded by the same duo for Urtex Digital Classics. Approx. duration: 12 minutes.

1996 Está Lloviendo Afuera y no Hay Agua, for solo piano

Premiered in Bloomington, Indiana by Anthony de Mare during the “Crossover of Traditions” Festival.
